The Comstock Family Page
The Comstock family has been traced back to Culmstock in Devonshire, England. William Comstock was born in 1595. He married Elizabeth Daniel (born 1608) in 1623.
About 1635, William and Elizabeth sailed to the Massachusetts settlements with their five children, John, Samuel, Daniel, Elizabeth and Christopher. Shortly after their arrival they moved to Connecticut, where they settled.
Christopher Comstock was born in 1635. He married Hannah Platt (born October 1, 1643) and had eight children. Their children were Daniel, Hannah, Abigail, Mary, Elizabeth, Mercy, Samuel and Moses.
Daniel Comstock was born July 21, 1664 in Norwalk, Connecticut. He married Elizabeth Wheeler on June 30, 1692. I don't know that they had more than one child, Daniel, born in 1693.
Daniel married Sarah Odell (born August 10, 1694). They had eight children. Daniel, Ann Elizabeth, John, Abel, Gershom, Samuel and Eliphalet.
The first Abel Comstock was born in 1721. I say first because this becomes a popular name with the Comstock family. On September 17, 1747, he married Judith Paine (born December 31, 1727).
Abel and Judith had several children. I have complete birthdates for all if you are interested. Their names were John Calvin, Anna, Judith, Rhoda, Martin Luther, Abel, Heman Noah, Daniel and Soloman.
The second Abel Comstock was born April 19, 1760. On January 5, 1783, he married Rebecca Phipany (born May 22, 1766). They had four children before Abel died in an accident September 19, 1795. Their children's names were Clarissa, Philetus (who changed his name to Abel after his father's death), David and Phebe.
Abel (Philetus) Comstock was born March 1, 1790. He married Isabella Cummings (born 1795) on September 17, 1815. They had 11 children including Isabella born July 1, 1831. I have names and birthdates for all if you are interested.
Isabella Comstock (the person who compilied a lot of this information) married Craig Bennett November 14, 1854. They had ten children including Walter Harvey born April 25, 1868.
